So while in Uruguay the other day, I asked Michael if anyone from the expat community had yet offered to put together an Expat contact book/guide that would include any expat that was interested in being in the guide, their information, where they live, skills/knowledge they possess, hobbies/interests, if they have children, languages spoke,n, etc. Michael said it did not exist.
I will volunteer to create this once I have relocated as I am currently completely pre-occupied with my impending move in 2 months.
1) this will be a great way to see what you may have in common with other expats & help foster connections
2) this may assist some of us who are looking for help but do not have the Spanish skills to hire a Spanish speaking worker for a job needing done
3) it could help those of us needing help achieving our income requirements
4) it may ease the transition for expats
Ideally this would be in the cloud with security. Anyhow, if you like the idea, please respond. If you have any concerns, please share. Note: this would only be accessible to expats once they officially reside in UY to maintain the expats' privacy & restrict access to the information.
I think this will be immensely helpful & again, only those people that want to participate would have their information included.
We could also consider creating a document with recommended resources for common services, I.e. Escribana, moving company, dentists, doctor, bank, realtor, plumber, electrician, etc. You would provide your recommendation & include your expat blog name &/or email so if anyone had specific questions, they could contact you.
This could also be put on a cloud to be dynamic & constantly updated. Additionally it would provide a intellectual capital system to capture the knowledge of expats, even those that eventually move away from UY.
Thoughts on this? I could compile the info. But hopefully one of our IT guys on this Forum could help with the Cloud part.
