I recently developed an intense adolescent-like crush on Uruguay. The general culture, politics and climate make it sound like paradise on Earth. I'm a 39 year old, unmarried woman with no children, but don't have particularly sought-after skills or any savings. I feel like a burden in America, because they value quantity over quality, and desperation over prudence.
Is it ridiculous for me to dream about a simpler life in Uruguay? I'd appreciate any advice on how to get started researching what kind of opportunities would be available to me, especially with my Spanish vocabulary equivalent being that of a two year old.
I'm not afraid of farm work, even though problems with my back might preclude me from heavy lifting - maybe there's a place for me in processing somewhere? I'd actually prefer something in the agricultural field, rather than assume everyone wants to learn my grasp of the English language.
