To produce chicken here in Uruguay, it costs 45 $/kg. But the CAFO chicken from the states will cost 21 $/KG. This is going to drive the chicken ranchers out of business. How can they complete with US taxpayer subsidies given to the big Agro businesses so the price appears cheap in the stores.
Not to mention the overuse of antibiotics in the CAFOs and the superbugs that have mutated and cannot be treated with any known anti-biotic. So cook it well or buy from someone who grows locally. Yes, I know they use antibiotics here as well, But not like in the states.
