This website seemed like a good place to start. I'm born and raised in the US, but my mother was born and raised in Uruguay, and she raised me with her language and culture. No place else has ever felt so much like home to me, and deep down, I've always wanted to live there, at least for part of my life. I would have my family and culture, but I'm very nervous about employment, which is where I hope y'all can help. I'm working through a bachelor's in biochemistry, and my plan is to get through a PhD program in pharma/biochem so I can do industry research, but I honestly cannot find any information about the job market in pharmaceutical research in Uruguay. I'm aware that production exists, but I can't find anything about drug development and discovery, or any non-academia research. All company websites are painfully vague, LinkedIn seems to not be used by anyone there, and I have no connections to research in the entire region. My family is now definitively moving back, so my incentive to relocate is significantly greater, but I don't want to be jobless if I do. Does anyone here have any experience with the pharmaceutical industry in Uruguay, or know someone who does?
