Greetings to all and Buen Dia!
We have enjoyed our three years in Uruguay beyond what words can describe. We were very fortunate to land, feet first, in such a wonderful location having never even visited Uruguay beforehand. We owe that much, in part, to our great friends here.
It is time to give our rented home back its owner and we are happy to do so as it is time for a change. We have been living in "perfect vacation land" for three years and we know it is time to begin again to be self-sustaining.
For those of you who do not know us well, Bonnie and I spent six years together in Indiana making our half acre property into a self sustaining micro-farm. Before we moved to UY, we had 5 gardens, a small green house, three bee hives, a chicken coop, food stores /purified water/ security stock pile and properly stored fuel. Our home, which we still own, can adequately support 6 adults indefinitely.

All of our food was grown from Heirloom, non-GMO seeds, and we grew everything organically, never using pesticides.
Homesteading is much more than learning how to grow food. It is about being as self-sufficient as possible and utilizing everything to its maximum potential so that you create as little waste as possible. It is about being responsible for yourself and knowing how to live.
Some of the things we have learned are: How to preserve and properly store food for the long term, how to raise chickens, how to keep bees and extract honey, how to harvest and keep seeds for the planting cycle. We make our own food at home, including most of the items people buy in the grocery store: ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, vinegar, soy sauce, herbal tea, herbs de province and other herb blends.
We make our own soap, toothpaste, lotion, medicinal essential oil blends, and many other household goods. We learned how to make our own water purification filter and gravity-fed watering system for the garden and for our own consumption (photo in gallery).
Before we left Indiana to move to Uruguay, we were in the process of setting up a windmill, solar panels and battery back-up as a source of electricity.
The natural, organic world was created for abundance and sustainability. Over much time, people have been made to live in a world of lack, and the knowledge of abundance has all but been erased. We are all meant to live in abundance.
John and Bonnie are both thinkers AND doers. It is time, right now, to begin a community of doers... a community of abundance that does not rely on money. Over the last three years we have gotten to know many locals and EXPATs alike. We know there is a great interest in beginning an organic, sustainable community. Like most new ideas, it takes people willing to put the work in to begin. "If you build it, they will come." We want to start now so there is something to attract other doers and like-minded people to a community that is there for them. The time for talking and wishing is over. It is now time to make this happen!
With all of this in mind, we are looking for someone who has adequate farmable land with at least one habitable structure on the property. We would like to rent that structure and go to work on the land to begin what will become an entire community. We want to create a community built from love and based entirely on abundance rather than profit. Together we can manifest something beyond the current human state of complete lack, over priced food, and government control. If you are ready, then put us to use. Help us do what needs to be done.
The bottom line is, we need to be out of this house and into our next home no-later-than October 1st. If you are ready to start an organic community or if you know of a rental house please contact us.

Es el momento de devolver a nuestra casa alquilada a su dueño y estamos felices de hacerlo, ya que es hora de un cambio. Hemos estado viviendo en "tierra de vacaciones perfectas" durante tres años y sabemos que es hora de comenzar de nuevo a ser autosuficiente.
Para aquellos de ustedes que no nos conocen bien, Bonnie y yo pasamos seis años juntos en Indiana, convirtiendo nuestra propiedad de media hectárea en una micro granja autosuficiente. Antes de que nos trasladamos a UY, tuvimos 5 jardines, una pequeña casa verde, tres colmenas de abejas, un gallinero, almacenes de alimentos / pila purificada de agua / seguridad y combustible debidamente almacenado. Nuestra casa, que todavía somos dueños, puede apoyar adecuadamente a 6 adultos indefinidamente.
