visa overstay fee

This might not be accurate anymore, but hey, when has THAT ever stopped anyone from sharing on a blog? when leaving URuguay, from Colonia, about 2 years ago, i had stayed 92 days , rather than 90 days. I paid, i believe , 1,050 pesos. At that time, i think that was about 33 u.s. dollars. There was some discussion among the immigration officers as to whether i had overstayed one or two days, and i can not tell you what the fine tuning was about as i am still at "preschool level" Spanish. So, i asked the guy who was collecting my money if it is that fee per day. He said it is just a lump fee, so I am assuming that it would have been the same price had I overstayed by a week. Considering that Thailand charges a per day ( and it used to be about the same , i think, 90 baht, or 30 dollars ( ? ). I overstayed 2 days that trip , too. Neither over stay on purpose, just an inability to count the calendar correctly. So, Uruguay is pretty reasonable. I think i paid closer to 50. u.s. for both the Vietnamese and Cambodian visas. ( dont know what their overstays cost, i have finally learned to count? ) So, maybe URuguayan tourist office needs to market that ? = Lowest tourist overstay fees in the world! And no first time visa/reciprocity fees!
