My wife and I have decided to retire to UY from the US in early 2019. We have 7 rescue cats we've accumulated through the years that we intend to bring with us. Other than one direct flight by American Airlines from Miami to MVD that allows pets in the pressurized cargo hold, what other options exist to get pets to UY safely and for a reasonable fee? The two pet exporters I called (one handles US export and the other for UY import) were asking for a pricey payment that sounded unreasonable for the vague services provided. Does anyone have any suggestions/recommendations based on real life experiences? Such as, are there any charter flights operating from UY direct to the US, or perhaps to other SA cities with international airports such as Lima, Medellin or Mexico City where we could transfer from a major airline to a charter company flying into/out of MVD? This is one of the more difficult logistics issues I'm trying to solve. Thank you!
