What is the norm for costs of Security Monitoring?

We are just moving to a new house and the previous absentee owners had monitored security via telephone. The security company has now suggested an increased cost of $2000 pesos per month but we are unsure whether it is worth it,

Does anyone know whether that is the going rate for an installed security alarm, where they visit the property if the alarm is triggered?
