Hi,
We have now successfully gone through the Cedula process.
Now, we would like to bring our car into Uruguay, and wondering the best way to operate and insure it.
One option is applying to retire under Law 16,340, which apparently allows you to bring a car into the country, then operate and insure it without problem.
Has anyone experience this, or with other ways of bringing a car into the country from elsewhere? What about other options??
Is the option of continuing to insure the car with our foreign plates a possibility temporarily?
I favour the easiest most cost effective option, but don't know what that is yet, and whether Law 16.340 achieves that, especially because they (DNIC) appear to want a ton (feels like it!) of paperwork that appears to replicate procedures and the documents (e.g.. notarized proof of income) we needed in getting the Cedula....
thank you
