Uruguay Sending Dollars to Yourself

What is the best way to send dollars to yourself in Uruguay? Note I'm a tourist, an American citizen and I'd like to send myself dollars. I don't want to use ATM's because of the daily limits. What is the best way to do this?

I heard Western Union works, is this true? Are there limits/paperwork/obstacles? Is it possible to do this in Colonia or only in Montevideo?

Are there other services besides WU that would work better for this?

Finally how complicates is it for someone self-employed to open a bank account with BROU (I can prove I live in Buenos Aires, and they accept this, but I'm curious about what documents they require RE source of funds/tax returns and that kind of thing).
