Transferring funds to US

We will be returning to the US for a 2 year period and want to transfer funds from our accounts and the sale of our home. The fees for wiring funds from most of the banks are very high now approximately 1% and we need to use an intermediary bank for another .7%. Does anyone know of better way to move money back to the US? Thanks
