Excited to move to Vietnam in 2013, but have a couple questions.

Hey guys, nice to meet you all. I was adopted from Vietnam and live in the states. I recently spent a month over there and just loved it. My goal is to move to Vietnam in early 2013. I've been reading some posts and they are very helpful and people here seem super nice and friendly. I've lived in different parts of the states (LA, Chicago, NYC, Hawaii, St. Louis), but I've never lived overseas. I have taught before in the states, so I think my best bet would be to teach english and hopefully coach some soccer (I've played since I was 5, received a college scholarship, been invited to some pro camps, and it is the sport that I love). I would love to do some free soccer camps all around Vietnam to those children that don't have the opportunity or financial means to ever participate in something like that. I also have a business degree in management and wouldn't mind helping out where I could.

My main concerns are on the medical side. Do you buy insurance there? (insurance, evac situations, etc.). Also, the best ways to figure out how to transfer money from my US checking accounts to a Vietnamese bank. When I was there I saw a bunch of HSBC banks (I know, the scandal thing).

I haven't decided where I want to live yet, but DaNang was dear to my heart, since that was where my orphanage was. Plus, I was able to teach some of the local kids at a school some english and that was a blast. HCMC is appealing because I met so many awesome people there that could help me get integrated right away.

Anyways, I know I'm still 5-6 months off, but any insight, advice would be appreciated. It would also be good to just start making friends and contacts from those that have done this before.

Thanks for all your help, I'm getting really excited about this!!

Best,

Mark
