DBS check for work permit- UK citizen

Hello!
Im a UK citizen and am planning on coming out to Vietnam for a second time in August to teach English. The first time I went, I had to get a DBS check no more 3 months old from the UK- this wasn't a problem as I wasn't planning any travelling beforehand. This time though, I plan to do a few months travelling prior to going to Vietnam and may try and get a job when I am out there and re-enter on a different visa if I have to. If the DBS I get before I leave is only valid for 3 months though, I imagine this could be problem as I plan to travel for that length of time alone.
Some places online have suggested the UK criminal background check needs to be less than 6 months old, whilst others say no more than 3 months.
Can anyone give any insight into this? Any advice would be appreciated!
