Moving to Nica

Hola, y'all, we are going to be moving to Nica just south of Granada soon. Purchased a small "hacienda" and have been gathering all necessary documents for a Cedula so that we will be able to bring a car and household items and 3 dogs into country as retirees. Will be staying in our home for a couple of months until everything is processed by our lawyers in Granada and then come down again permanently. Also getting necessary paperwork for our dogs to come with us. We want to drive from Fort Worth,Texas to our place . Has anyone done this? How safe is it? Will probably go to valley and stay overnight there before driving through Mexico. Have Googled route which will take about 22 hours from the valley. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Also, since our place does not have hot water we are thinking of getting a sm. hot water heater and run line to bathroom and kitchen. Has anyone done this? Still have a lot of questions and hope you will be able to give advice. Thanking you in advance.
