Retiring in Nicaragua from the U.S.

What is the process for making a move to Nicaragua? How to go about the paperwork need to enter the country and is it necessary to become a 'resident'? Is it possible to get a Retired Persons Temporary Resident Visa which will let you go in and out of the country for a specific period of years,, i.e 3 yrs.
If becoming a 'resident' does that negate my citizenship in the U.S.? Is it necessary to go back to the States for a specific period of time, so as not to lose the residency status there? Please, ANY HELP with this subject and any other information which would be helpful to me would be mighty appreciated...this is something I've been considering, but wonder if it's too much to be able to handle to make it worthwhile. Need to know about medical facilities and healthcare ...is it readily available and is it good? Drs. and DDS..for example as well as good hospitals.
Thanks to all who can and will help me!!!!
