Cost of Retiring

Can a woman of 62 live decently, nothing fancy but safe, on a social security income of $1200 a month in Managua or Granada? Or would it be wiser to wait until I'm 66 and have a SS income of $1600? My son in Managua says I can do it on $1200, my Texas son says wait. What is the reality? Thanks for your replies.
