Intensive Spanish language classes in Granada

Buenos dias!

Casa Xalteva is a non-profit educational and charitable foundation located in Granada, Nicaragua. Through our volunteer social service programs we hope to contribute something back to help improve the lives of our Nicaraguan hosts. The foundation also raises funds for a variety of programs to help alleviate the poverty in Nicaragua, including social services for children.

We offer two different types of classes, group classes and private classes. The group classes cost $160 and the private classes are $180 per week. This includes four hours of classes for five days a week totaling 20 hours of instruction time. Small group classes run from 8am-12 every weekday morning and private classes run in the afternoon from 1-5pm.

Each one of our teachers uses a different methodology based on the needs of the student. Some classes focus mainly on conversation and even include special trips to market places, transport hubs and coffee shops to put the language into a practical use. Other classes tend to focus more on grammar and giving the student a strong 'back-bone' in Spanish. Each teacher works with their students to ensure the best possible methodology is used for the interests and needs of that person

Volunteer information: Students who have some proficiency in Spanish may volunteer for a few hours a day with our children’s program Los Chaval@s where volunteers can help with homework, assist our teacher Larry with his lesson plan or bring their own creative ideas from their home countries to plan their own lessons.

Excursions: Many students attend classes in the morning and take advantage of our excursions in the afternoons. Our excursions include: a city tour, Mombacho Volcano, Masaya Volcano, Verbenas dances and market in Masaya, Aquas Agrias, Pueblos Blancos, Laguna de Apollo, Aguizhotes, and a city bike tour.

Hope we see you soon!
