Water Level Rio San Juan

Hello all - I'm coming down to Nica this weekend for a few weeks and was thinking about doing a trip down the Rio San Juan. However, I've read elsewhere that due to the drought the water levels in both the river itself as well as Lago Nicaragua are low, and that the ferries are not running to San Carlos. Any truth to these couple of stories that I've seen? Thanks in advance.
