San Juan Del Sur Visit

Planning to visit SJDS Spring-summer 2016. staying for 10 days to help me decide if I may want to move permanently. Would like recomendations on hotels that are as close to everything as possible i.e. (beach, bars, restaurants, expat hangouts, as little walking as possible). Something safe and clean in the $50 - $70US per night range. Also safest, best and fairly economical way to get to SJDS from the airport. Will I be ok with shorts, jeans, tshirts, flip flops and sneakers. Do I need polo type shirts? Will have debit card, so how much cash to have with me and should I convert before I get to SJDS? Any other suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks in advance,
