Canadian family looking at relocating to Nica

We are a Canadian family looking at relocating to Nicaragua. We are interested in a more self-sufficient, living off the land, eco-village/resort type existence. I have been reading a lot of the forum posts to get a feel for what is required to relocate. We would like to connect with anyone with teenage kids and/or Canadians who would be willing to share their experience (anything specific about getting documents signed for residency application, etc.)
My husband is down in Nica this week to get a feel for things and scope some rental ideas and would love to meet up with any expats who would like to meet to share their adventure!
