butane

Hi! I am a jeweler and preparing to travel to Managua Nicaragua to teach a family how to make jewelry. The only issue I'm running into is where to find butane for the small hand-held torch. The family can't seem to find any in Managua. Any leads would be appreciated.
I'm also thinking I could fly into Liberia, CR and possibly find it there, then drive or boat to Managua. Would this be possible? How safe is Nicaragua these days? Would two American females driving around be an issue?
