Glacial internet speeds in MT

I pay EUR 96 a month to Melita for their so-called "Fibre power" 240 Mbits/sec internet service, and the speed is very disappointing. It comes with lots of TV channels - I generally only watch CNBC and Bloomberg - which are free to air. I would watch HD French TV - eg TF1, Arte and M6 if it was available on Melita.

While one can download content at around 200 Mbits/sec, the real issue is the time it takes for a page to fill. (ie page fill speed). Melita have fiber to my building, and co-ax running up to the apartment.

It seems to me to be a problem of contention ratios - too many users competing for the same bandwidth either between my location and the Melita head end. Or perhaps Melita's connectivity with the rest Europe is deficient?

I have fast internet connections in two other countries in Europe, and when I do a speedtest.net to Malta, the latency is slower than one would expect. Melita's download speeds are a fraction of what I can get from another country to the Go server on the same speedtest.net. If you go to Google maps on a good internet connection and zoom into a building the zoom happens rapidly. On Melita's 240 Mbits//sec service, it is slow. I am wondering if Go is any faster? I have read somewhere that Go also has fiber to Fort Cambridge. Does anybody have experience of that company's quality of service?
