Importing Currancy & Opening Bank Account in SL

I'm purchasing and renovating a home in SL. (1) Does anyone know what is max USD currency I can bring from USA? (The SL customs form said declare if over $10,000 but not explain if there was a cap or if duties to be collected). (2) Can anyone recommend a bank in SL so I can open an account to pay my builder and utilities? Bank of SL had HUGE list of requirements (letters from USA bank as personal reference, etc.). We will only be on the island for a week this next trip in 2 weeks and want to bring enough to open a bank account and down payment for the renovations.
