Termo de Responisbilidade

This is a follow-up question to an earlier posting re: D7 long-term lease rental requirement.

Has anyone had experience with using the TER (Termo de Responisibilidade), which allows an applicant to have a friend or family member state responsibility for your living arrangement? I was informed that this agreement could be used in place of a 12-month rental lease.

Another question: Can this friend or family member be someone who recently received their residency card from SEF?

I would greatly appreciate a response!
