When we asked people what advice they would give someone preparing to move to Bahrain, they said:

"Before moving to Bahrain, expats should be aware of the country's culture and customs. It is important to respect the local culture and dress modestly in public. Expats should also be aware of the local laws and regulations, and familiarize themselves with the local language, Arabic. Additionally, expats should research the cost of living in Bahrain and the availability of healthcare and other services. Finally, expats should make sure to obtain the necessary visas and permits before moving to Bahrain," explained one expat living in Bahrain.

We asked expats how they chose their neighborhood and found a place to live. They answered:

"One of the best ways to find a place to live in Bahrain is to search online for rental listings. There are many websites that offer listings of apartments, villas, and other types of housing in Bahrain. Additionally, you can also search for rental listings in local newspapers and classifieds. Additionally, you can also contact a real estate agent or property management company to help you find a suitable place to live in Bahrain," said one expat who made the move to Bahrain.

What is a typical expat home or apartment like in Bahrain?

"Expat homes and apartments in Bahrain tend to be modern and luxurious, with many featuring high-end amenities such as swimming pools, gyms, and private gardens. Expats can also expect to find spacious living areas, fully-equipped kitchens, and plenty of natural light. Many expat homes and apartments also come with access to a variety of services, such as housekeeping, laundry, and security," remarked one expat in Bahrain.

What is the average cost of housing in Bahrain?

If you are thinking about moving to Bahrain, cost of living in probably a key consideration. Expats commented about the cost of housing:

"The cost of housing in Bahrain varies depending on the location and type of property. Generally, the cost of renting an apartment or villa in Bahrain is relatively high compared to other countries in the region. However, there are some more affordable options available, such as studio apartments and shared accommodation," remarked one expat in Bahrain.

Should I buy or rent a home in Bahrain?

"Buying a home in Bahrain can be a great investment, as the country has a strong economy and a growing real estate market. However, it is important to consider the cost of living in Bahrain, as well as the availability of rental properties, before making a decision. Renting a home in Bahrain can be a great option for those who are not ready to commit to a long-term purchase, as it allows for more flexibility and can be more cost-effective in the short-term. Ultimately, the decision to buy or rent a home in Bahrain should be based on individual needs and preferences," remarked one expat who made the move to Bahrain.

What should I pack when moving to Bahrain?

We asked people living in Bahrain to list three things they wish they had brought and three they wish they had left behind. They responded:

"When moving to Bahrain, it is important to pack items that will help you adjust to the climate and culture. Bring lightweight, breathable clothing that is appropriate for the hot and humid climate. Sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat are also essential for protecting yourself from the sun. Additionally, it is important to bring items that will help you adjust to the culture, such as modest clothing and a headscarf for women. It is also a good idea to bring a few items from home that will help you feel comfortable in your new environment. Finally, make sure to bring any necessary documents, such as your passport and visa," replied a member in Bahrain.

What cultural faux pas should I try to avoid making in Bahrain?

We asked people in Bahrain if they could share any humorous cultural blunders they commited. For new expats, keep in mind that these incidents are an inevitable part of expat life. Learning to laugh about them is the key!:

It is considered impolite to show public displays of affection, so it is best to avoid kissing or hugging in public. It is also important to dress modestly, especially when visiting religious sites. It is also important to be aware of the local customs regarding food and drink, as some foods and drinks are considered taboo in Bahrain. Additionally, it is important to be respectful of the local language and to avoid using profanity. How are healthcare services Bahrain?

When we asked expats and global nomads about the quality of medical care in Bahrain, they replied:

"In Bahrain, healthcare services are provided by both public and private institutions. The public healthcare system is managed by the Ministry of Health and provides a range of services, including primary care, specialist care, and hospital services. The quality of public healthcare is generally good, with modern facilities and well-trained staff. Foreign residents in Bahrain have access to the public healthcare system, although they may need to pay for some services. Expats in Bahrain can use the public healthcare system by registering with the Ministry of Health and obtaining a health card. This card allows them to access public healthcare services at a reduced cost," commented one expat living in Bahrain.

What are medical services in Bahrain like?

When we asked expats and global nomads about the quality of medical care in Bahrain, they replied:

"In Bahrain, medical services are of a high standard, with a range of both public and private healthcare facilities available. The public healthcare system is free for Bahraini citizens, and provides a range of services including general practice, specialist care, and emergency services. Private healthcare facilities offer a more comprehensive range of services, including advanced medical treatments and specialist care. Bahrain also has a number of international hospitals, which offer a range of services to both local and international patients," offered one expat living in Bahrain.
