When we asked people what advice they would give someone preparing to move to Cameroon, they said:

"Cameroon is a diverse country with a rich culture and a variety of languages spoken. It is important to research the local customs and laws before moving to Cameroon. Expats should also be aware of the cost of living, which can be higher than in other African countries. Additionally, it is important to obtain the necessary visas and permits before arriving in Cameroon. Expats should also be aware of the security situation in the country, as there have been reports of crime and civil unrest in some areas. Finally, it is important to research the healthcare system in Cameroon, as it may not be up to the same standards as in other countries," said one expat in Cameroon.

"Finding a place to live in Cameroon can be a challenge, but there are a few options available. One option is to look for rental properties online, such as on websites like Expat.com or Global Property Guide. You can also search for rental properties in local newspapers or contact real estate agents in the area. Additionally, you can look for furnished apartments or houses for rent on websites like Airbnb or HomeAway. Finally, you can also ask around in your local community for recommendations on places to rent," remarked one expat in Cameroon.

If you have not spent a lot of time in Cameroon, you should rent before even thinking about buying. We asked expats there about the buy vs. rent decision:

"When deciding whether to buy or rent a home in Cameroon, it is important to consider the cost of living, the availability of housing, and the local economy. Buying a home in Cameroon can be a great investment, as property values tend to appreciate over time. When we asked expats and global nomads about the quality of medical care in Cameroon, they replied:

"Cameroon offers a variety of healthcare services, including primary care, hospital care, and specialized care. The public healthcare system in Cameroon is largely funded by the government and is available to all citizens. However, the quality of public healthcare is generally considered to be inadequate, with limited access to medical supplies and equipment, and a shortage of qualified medical personnel. Foreign residents may have access to the public healthcare system, but it is not always guaranteed. Expats in Cameroon may use the public healthcare system, but they may also opt to use private healthcare services, which are often of a higher quality," stated one expat who made the move to Cameroon.

The quality of medical services in Cameroon varies depending on the region and the type of facility. In general, the public health system is underfunded and understaffed, leading to long wait times and limited access to specialized care. However, the private sector is growing and providing more options for those who can afford it," said one expat living in Cameroon.
