"Paraguay generally has a low crime rate, but there have been reports of violent crime, including armed robberies, kidnappings, and homicides. Drug trafficking and organized crime are also a problem in some areas. The government has taken steps to combat crime, including increasing police presence in urban areas and strengthening border security," explained one expat living in Paraguay.

Is there a lot of diversity? Are people in Paraguay accepting of differences?

"Paraguay is a culturally diverse country, with a population made up of many different ethnic and racial backgrounds. Paraguayans are generally accepting of differences, and the country has a long history of peaceful coexistence between its various ethnic and religious groups. The school is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and the Paraguayan Ministry of Education. ASA offers a rigorous academic program with a strong emphasis on English language instruction, as well as Spanish and French language classes. The school also offers a wide range of extracurricular activities, including sports, music, and art. The International School of Paraguay (ISP) is another excellent international school in Paraguay. It is a private, non-profit, co-educational day school offering an international curriculum from pre-kindergarten through grade 12. The school is accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the Paraguayan Ministry of Education. ISP offers a comprehensive academic program with a strong emphasis on English language instruction, as well as Spanish and French language classes. The school also offers a wide range of extracurricular activities, including sports, music, and art. The British School of Asuncion (BSA) is a top-notch bilingual school in Paraguay. It is a private, non-profit, co-educational day school offering a British-style education from pre-kindergarten through grade 12. The school is accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the Paraguayan Ministry of Education. BSA offers a rigorous academic program with a strong emphasis on English language instruction, as well as Spanish and French language classes. "PAIS is by far your best choice in Paraguay. The headmaster has a PhD in education, the classes are in English, the kids are from at least 20 countries, almost all graduates go to the school of their choice (anywhere in the world) and most repatriates are bored due to being more advanced," said one expat in Asuncion with children at Pan American International School.

Is the cost of living in Paraguay high?

We asked people how much they someone comfortably live on in Paraguay, they wrote:

"The cost of living in Paraguay is generally considered to be quite affordable. Basic necessities such as food, transportation, and housing are all relatively inexpensive compared to other countries in the region. Prices for consumer goods and services are also quite low, making it a great destination for budget travelers. Additionally, the cost of living in Paraguay is significantly lower than in many other Latin American countries, making it an attractive option for expats and retirees," remarked one expat living in Paraguay.

"The cost of living in Paraguay is generally quite affordable. Prices for basic goods and services are generally lower than in other countries in the region. However, the cost of living in the capital city of Asuncion is higher than in other parts of the country. Rent for a nice 1 bedroom apartment in Asuncion is around $400 USD per month, while a nice 2 bedroom apartment is around $600 USD per month. Eating dinner at a moderately priced restaurant in Paraguay will cost around $10 USD per person," remarked one expat living in Paraguay.

What type of recreational facilities are in Paraguay?

"In Paraguay, residents enjoy a variety of recreational facilities, such as parks, beaches, and sports complexes. Parks are a popular destination for families, offering plenty of green space for picnics, outdoor games, and leisurely strolls. Beaches are also a popular destination, with many offering swimming, sunbathing, and other beach activities. Sports complexes are also available, offering a variety of activities such as basketball, tennis, and soccer. "In order to visit Paraguay, foreign nationals must obtain a visa prior to their arrival. The process of applying for a visa involves submitting an application form, a valid passport, a passport-sized photograph, and proof of sufficient funds to cover the duration of the stay. Depending on the purpose of the visit, additional documents may be required. In order to obtain residency in Paraguay, foreign nationals must submit an application form, a valid passport, a passport-sized photograph, proof of sufficient funds to cover the duration of the stay, and a criminal background check. Are healthcare and health insurance expensive in Paraguay?

"Healthcare and health insurance in Paraguay are generally considered to be relatively affordable compared to other countries. Public healthcare is available to all citizens and is free or heavily subsidized, while private healthcare is also available for those who can afford it. Health insurance is also available, but it is not mandatory and is often expensive. However, there are some government-subsidized health insurance plans available for those who cannot afford private health insurance," remarked one expat in Paraguay.
