"Overall, the cost of living in Maryland is considered to be higher than the overall national average. The cost of renting a nice one bedroom apartment in Maryland is around $1300 USD and a nice two bedroom is around $1700 USD. Eating dinner at a moderately priced restaurant in Maryland can cost around $30 USD for one person," wrote one expat living in Maryland.

"In Maryland, residents can enjoy a variety of recreational facilities, such as parks, beaches, trails, and golf courses. Parks offer a variety of activities, such as playgrounds, picnic areas, and sports fields. Beaches provide a great place to relax and enjoy the scenery, as well as swimming and other water activities. Trails are great for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. Golf courses provide a great way to enjoy the outdoors while playing a round of golf. "People living in Maryland typically buy groceries and do other shopping at supermarkets, convenience stores, farmers markets, and specialty stores. Many people also shop online for groceries and other items. Additionally, there are many shopping malls and outlets throughout the state where people can find a variety of items," said one expat living in Maryland.

What are the visa & residency requirements in Maryland?

"In order to apply for a visa to enter Maryland, applicants must complete an online form and provide evidence of identity such as a passport, driver’s license, or birth certificate. Other documents may be estimated, such as evidence of onward travel and proof of sufficient financial resources. Applicants may also be asked to provide proof of medical insurance and a police clearance certificate. Once the application has been reviewed and approved by the Maryland Department of State, the applicant will be issued a visa. In order to apply for residency in Maryland, applicants must prove their lawful presence in the state of Maryland and fill out an application with the Department of Home Security. They must provide documentation that shows their status as a legal permanent resident, such as a passport, driver's license, or birth certificate. They will also need to provide supporting documents such as proof of employment, proof of income, and proof of address. After the application has been reviewed and approved, the applicant will be given a Maryland Resident Identification number which is used for identity and residency verification," commented one expat who moved to Maryland.

Are healthcare and health insurance expensive in Maryland?

"Healthcare and health insurance in Maryland can be expensive. The cost of health insurance premiums and out-of-pocket expenses for medical care can be high, especially for those who do not qualify for government assistance. Additionally, the cost of prescription drugs can be a significant expense for many Marylanders," said one expat living in Maryland.
