"In Montana, the cost of living is generally very affordable compared to other states. Depending on location, renters in Montana can expect to pay between $650 to $1200 for a 1 bedroom apartment per month and between $750 to $1500 for a 2 bedroom apartment per month. Eating dinner at a moderately priced restaurant could cost around $12 to $18 per person," said an expat in Montana.

"People living in Montana typically buy groceries at local supermarkets, such as Albertsons, Safeway, and Walmart. Other shopping can be done at local department stores, such as Target, Kohl's, and JCPenney, as well as at smaller, locally owned stores. Additionally, many people in Montana take advantage of online shopping options, such as Amazon, to purchase items," commented one expat who moved to Montana.
What are the visa & residency requirements in Montana?
"Foreigners wishing to stay in Montana must first obtain a valid U.S. visa. The process of applying for a visa is a three-step process. First, applicants must provide necessary documents, including a completed visa application, a valid passport, two recent photographs and proof of financial support. Second, applicants must schedule an appointment at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate for an interview and biometrics collection. Finally, applicants must pay the visa application fee. Once a person has obtained a valid U.S. visa, they may then apply for residency. To apply for residency, an applicant must first submit a complete and accurate application packet to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). The application packet must include all required forms, supporting documents, and the filing fee. Once the application is received, an office visit or an interview will be scheduled to determine the applicant's eligibility to become a resident. Once approved, applicants will receive a permanent resident card (green card)," commented one expat living in Montana.

"Healthcare and health insurance in Montana can be expensive, depending on the type of coverage and provider. Generally, health insurance premiums in Montana are higher than the national average, and the cost of healthcare services can also be higher than in other states. However, there are a variety of health insurance plans available in Montana, and some of them may offer more affordable coverage. Additionally, there are government programs and subsidies available to help make healthcare and health insurance more affordable for those who qualify," said one expat.
