These hospitals offer a variety of services, from emergency care to cancer treatment. In addition, Michigan is home to many smaller hospitals and medical centers, providing quality care to patients in their local communities. The state also has a number of rural health centers, providing care to those living in rural areas. Michigan is also home to a number of specialty care centers, such as the Detroit Medical Center, which specializes in cardiology, neurology, and orthopedics," said one expat.

"Healthcare and health insurance in Michigan can be expensive. Additionally, Michigan has some of the highest out-of-pocket costs for healthcare services in the country. "Michigan is home to a wide variety of medical specialists who provide exceptional care for a variety of health needs. Major cities such as Detroit, Grand Rapids, and Ann Arbor are well known for their expansive selection of healthcare providers. The surrounding metropolitan areas, such as Flint, Lansing, Kalamazoo, and Southeast Michigan, also have excellent selection of medical specialists available. In addition to the major cities, other areas in Michigan, such as Traverse City, Northern Michigan, and the Upper Peninsula, also offer excellent medical specialists who provide specialized and comprehensive care," wrote one expat.
Are common prescription medications available in Michigan?
"Yes, common prescription medications are available in Michigan. Pharmacies in the state are able to fill prescriptions for a variety of medications, including antibiotics, pain relievers, antidepressants, and other medications used to treat a variety of conditions. Many pharmacies also offer generic versions of brand-name medications, which can be more affordable for patients. Additionally, some pharmacies offer special programs that provide discounts on certain medications," said one expat.

As a foreigner living in Michigan, will I have access to public healthcare? What is it like?
"Yes, as a foreigner living in Michigan, you will have access to public healthcare. Michigan has a Medicaid program that provides health care coverage to low-income individuals and families. The program covers a wide range of services, including doctor visits, hospital stays, prescription drugs, and preventive care. The program also covers long-term care services, such as nursing home care and home health care. The quality of care provided through the Medicaid program is generally good, and the program is widely accepted by healthcare providers in Michigan," said one expat.
What have your experiences during the pandemic with the local healthcare system been like?

"My experiences with the local healthcare system in Michigan during the pandemic have been mostly positive. I have been able to access the care I need, and the healthcare providers I have interacted with have been very understanding and accommodating. I have been able to get appointments quickly, and the staff have been very helpful in answering my questions and providing guidance. I have also been able to access telehealth services, which has been a great way to get care without having to leave my home. Overall, I am very pleased with the care I have received during the pandemic," said one expat.
