The healthcare system has also been stretched to its limits, with limited resources and personnel to cope with the increased demand for medical services. Despite these challenges, the healthcare system has been able to provide quality care to those in need, and the government has taken steps to ensure that the most vulnerable members of the population are able to access the care they need," said one expat.

What advice do you have for expats having a baby in Dominica?

We asked expat moms who gave birth in Dominica about their experiences and advice they have for other moms to be. They said:

"It is important to research the healthcare system in Dominica before having a baby there. Make sure to find a reliable doctor or midwife who is experienced in delivering babies in the country. It is also important to familiarize yourself with the local laws and regulations regarding childbirth and parenting. Additionally, it is a good idea to connect with other expat parents in the area to get advice and support. Finally, make sure to take the necessary steps to ensure that your baby is registered with the local government and has the necessary documents to travel in and out of the country," said one expat in Dominica.
