When we asked expats and global nomads about the quality of medical care in Grenada, they replied:

"Grenada offers a range of healthcare services, including primary care, specialist care, and hospital services. The public healthcare system is managed by the Ministry of Health and is funded by the government. The quality of public healthcare is generally good, with a range of services available. Foreign residents have access to the public healthcare system, although they may need to pay for some services. Expats in Grenada can use the public healthcare system, although they may need to pay for some services. Expats may also choose to use private healthcare services, which are available in Grenada," said one expat living in Grenada.

Will I need to travel to see a specialist?

"Grenada's capital city, St. George's, is home to a wide variety of medical specialists, including general practitioners, surgeons, and specialists in fields such as cardiology, neurology, and oncology. The nearby town of Gouyave also has a number of medical specialists, including dentists, optometrists, and gynecologists. The town of Sauteurs is home to a number of specialists in fields such as orthopedics, dermatology, and ophthalmology. Additionally, the town of Grenville has a number of specialists in fields such as pediatrics, endocrinology, and gastroenterology," said an expat in Grenada.

Are common prescription medications available in Grenada?

"Yes, common prescription medications are available in Grenada. Most pharmacies in Grenada carry a wide range of medications, including antibiotics, anti-inflammatory drugs, and pain relievers. Many of these medications are available over the counter, while others require a prescription from a doctor. In addition, some pharmacies may also offer specialty medications, such as those used to treat cancer or HIV/AIDS," remarked one expat living in Grenada.

Do you have anything more to add about local medical facilities in Grenada?

The country has a number of public and private hospitals, clinics, and medical centers, providing quality medical care to both locals and visitors. The country also has a number of highly trained medical professionals, including doctors, nurses, and specialists, who are able to provide a range of medical services. In addition, Grenada has a number of pharmacies and medical supply stores, providing access to a range of medications and medical supplies," remarked one expat in Grenada.

As a foreigner living in Grenada, will I have access to public healthcare? What is it like?

"Yes, as a foreigner living in Grenada, you will have access to public healthcare. The public healthcare system in Grenada is generally considered to be of good quality, with a wide range of services available. The main public hospital is the St. George's University Hospital, which offers a range of services including emergency care, general medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, and pediatrics. Additionally, there are several smaller public health centers located throughout the country, which provide basic medical services such as vaccinations and primary care," wrote an expat living in Grenada.

What have your experiences during the pandemic with the local healthcare system been like?

We asked expats in Grenada if they have access to public healthcare in Grenada. And, if they do have access, what is it like. They wrote...

"The pandemic has had a significant impact on the healthcare system in Grenada. The government has implemented a number of measures to protect the health and safety of citizens, including the closure of the country's borders, the suspension of non-essential services, and the introduction of a curfew. Healthcare workers have been working tirelessly to provide care to those in need, and the government has provided additional resources to support them. Despite the challenges, the healthcare system in Grenada has been able to provide quality care to those in need," said an expat in Grenada.

What advice do you have for expats having a baby in Grenada?

We asked expat moms who gave birth in Grenada about their experiences and advice they have for other moms to be. They said:

"It is important to research the healthcare system in Grenada before having a baby there. Make sure to find a reliable doctor or midwife who is experienced in delivering babies in Grenada. It is also important to research the availability of medical supplies and equipment in the country, as well as the availability of medical insurance. Additionally, it is important to familiarize yourself with the local culture and customs surrounding childbirth and parenting. Finally, it is important to build a support network of family and friends who can provide assistance and advice during the pregnancy and after the baby is born," said one expat in Grenada.

Are healthcare services good in Grenada?

We asked people if they have access to good medical care in Grenada. They wrote:

"Grenada has a public healthcare system that provides basic medical services to its citizens. The country also has a number of private hospitals and clinics that offer more specialized services. The government of Grenada has invested in improving the quality of healthcare services in the country, including the introduction of modern medical equipment and the training of healthcare professionals. The country also has a number of health insurance plans available to its citizens, which can help to cover the cost of medical care," remarked one in Grenada.
