Pros and Cons of Living in Oman
Last updated on Nov 17, 2023
Summary: The pros of living in Oman include its rich cultural heritage, stunning natural beauty, and excellent healthcare system. Additionally, Oman is a safe and secure country with a low crime rate and a strong economy. The cost of living is also relatively low, making it an attractive destination for expats. On the other hand, the climate in Oman can be quite hot and humid, and the country is quite conservative, so expats may find it difficult to adjust to the local culture. Additionally, the job market is quite competitive, and the language barrier can be a challenge for those who don't speak Arabic.

What do expats find most challenging?
"Expats in Oman often find the local culture to be quite different from their own, which can be challenging to adjust to. The conservative dress code and social norms can be difficult to adhere to, and the language barrier can be a challenge for those who do not speak Arabic. Additionally, the hot climate and lack of public transportation can make it difficult to get around. Finally, the lack of nightlife and alcohol can be a difficult adjustment for those used to a more western lifestyle," said one expat in Oman.
"Covering most parts of my body even when it's scorching hot. I also just cannot understand why women would agree to being in such a submissive role," said a person living in Salalah.
