What are the pros and cons of living in Cyprus?

Expats, digital nomads and retirees living in Cyprus responded:

"Expats and digital nomads often appreciate the warm climate and relaxed lifestyle that Cyprus has to offer. The cost of living is also relatively low, making it an attractive destination for those looking to stretch their budget. Additionally, the country is known for its friendly locals and welcoming atmosphere. On the other hand, some expats and digital nomads may find the lack of public transportation and infrastructure to be a challenge. Additionally, the language barrier can be a challenge for those who don't speak Greek," said one member in Cyprus.

"Cypriots are terrible drivers so you have to drive very defensively. But they are very kind and friendly people," remarked one expat in Frenaros.

What do expats in Cyprus appreciate most about the local culture?

"The friendliness and generosity of the people. The culture is very family-oriented and as such, it is a very safe and joyful place to live. The pace of life is more relaxed. As the Greeks say, siga siga (slowly slowly)," replied an expat in Frenaros.

"Expats in Cyprus appreciate the warm hospitality of the locals, the relaxed Mediterranean lifestyle, and the beautiful scenery of the island. They also enjoy the rich cultural heritage of the country, with its ancient ruins, traditional festivals, and vibrant nightlife. Additionally, the low cost of living and the abundance of outdoor activities make Cyprus an attractive destination for expats," remarked one in Cyprus.

What do expats find most challenging?

"There are many Cypriots who are not animal lovers and because there is a lareg population of homeless dogs and cats on the island, sometime you see animal cruelty. This saddens me," replied an expat in Frenaros.

"Expats in Cyprus often find the local culture to be quite different from what they are used to. The language barrier can be a challenge, as Greek is the official language and English is not widely spoken. Additionally, the local customs and traditions can be difficult to understand and navigate. Expats may also find the pace of life to be slower than what they are accustomed to, as well as the lack of public transportation in some areas. Finally, the hot and humid climate can be a challenge for those who are not used to it," remarked one in Cyprus.
