What are the pros and cons of living in Slovakia?
Expats, digital nomads and retirees living in Slovakia responded:
"Expats and digital nomads living in Slovakia appreciate the country's low cost of living, which allows them to stretch their budget further. They also enjoy the country's stunning natural beauty, with its rolling hills, lush forests, and picturesque mountain ranges. Additionally, Slovakia is known for its friendly people and vibrant culture, which makes it a great place to live and work. On the downside, expats and digital nomads may find the language barrier to be a challenge, as English is not widely spoken in Slovakia. What do expats find most challenging?
"Expats in Slovakia often find the language barrier to be the most challenging aspect of the local culture. Many Slovaks speak English, but it is not as widely spoken as in other European countries. Additionally, the Slovak culture is quite traditional and conservative, which can be difficult for expats to adjust to. Slovaks also tend to be quite reserved and formal in their interactions with strangers, which can be intimidating for expats who are used to more open and friendly interactions. Finally, Slovak cuisine can be quite heavy and unfamiliar to expats, making it difficult to find food that they are used to," said a person living in Slovakia.
