"Expats and digital nomads living in Georgia appreciate the country's low cost of living, friendly locals, and stunning natural beauty. They also enjoy the vibrant culture, delicious cuisine, and the fact that English is widely spoken. What do expats in Georgia appreciate most about the local culture?

"The hospitality; the fact that complete strangers invite you for lunch, or a meal. The fact that if people offer to show you around, because they are born and raised in the town you're currently visiting, the only do it because they're proud of their country and want to show you its splendour. There are no ulterior motives," said one person in Tbilisi.

"Expatriates in Georgia appreciate the resilient, welcoming nature of the people, and the country’s deeply-rooted culture and traditions. They appreciate Georgia's spectacular, diverse landscapes, and its unique language, cuisine and music. The country's museums and galleries are also a great source of pride, providing locals and foreigners alike with an appreciation for the long and complex local history. Additionally, Georgia’s art and film festivals, national festivals and fairs, and other local events are enjoyed for their delightful atmosphere and offer wide exposure to Georgian hospitality at its best. With its rich cultural heritage, vibrant and alive cities, and stunning surrounding nature, Georgia is a place many expats find truly inspiring," remarked one expat in Georgia Rep.

What do expats find most challenging?

"Expats in Georgia often find navigating the local culture quite challenging due to its intricacies. One aspect of the culture that can be particularly hard for international visitors to grasp is the concept of hospitality, which places a strong emphasis on respecting and honoring visitors, even beyond what might be considered normal politeness. Additionally, Georgians have a great reverence for traditional culture and customs, which can be daunting for newcomers to understand. Language barriers can be another obstacle, as English is not widely spoken in many parts of the country. Lastly, Georgian culture is heavily patriarchal, so it may be difficult for women to adjust to the different expectations and etiquette related to gender roles," said one expat in Georgia Rep.

"The driving style. Traffic is dangerous - people drive like maniac. Georgia has the highest death rate in Europe," said a person living in Tbilisi.
