Summary: The cost of living in Ukraine is generally quite affordable. A nice one bedroom apartment in Ukraine can cost anywhere from $200 to $500 per month, while a nice two bedroom apartment can cost from $400 to $800 per month. The cost of dinner at a moderately priced restaurant in Ukraine is usually around $10 to $15 per person.

Is the cost of living in Ukraine high?

We asked people how much they someone comfortably live on in Ukraine, they wrote:

"Very difficult to say, depends on: * If you have any dependents, ie children to support. * If you rent a fully furnished apartment from an agency it's expensive, better to buy or find a private landlord. * You have to buy extra clothing for the winter, it's inescapable unless you want to freeze your knees off," said one expat in Kharkov.

What is the average cost of housing in Ukraine?

If you are thinking about moving to Ukraine, cost of living in probably a key consideration. Expats commented about the cost of housing:

"The cost of housing in Ukraine varies depending on the location and type of property. Generally, the cost of renting an apartment in Ukraine is relatively affordable compared to other European countries. Prices for apartments in the capital city of Kyiv tend to be higher than in other cities, but still remain relatively low compared to other European capitals," wrote a person living in Ukraine.

"The rental price for a nice 1 bedroom apartment in Ukraine can vary depending on the location, but generally ranges from around $200 to $500 per month. For a nice 2 bedroom apartment, the rental price can range from around $400 to $800 per month," commented one expat living in Ukraine.

What appliances are typically included in a rental?

We asked foreigners in Ukraine what appliances are typically included in a rental, and, if there is anything else included or not included that a newcomer would not expect. Replies included:

"In Ukraine, rental properties typically include a refrigerator, stove, oven, washing machine, and air conditioning unit. Other common appliances may include a microwave, dishwasher, and water heater. Furniture may also be included in the rental, depending on the agreement between the landlord and tenant," said one expat.
