The cost of dinner at a moderately priced restaurant in Oman is usually around $15 to $20 per person.

"The cost of living in Oman is generally considered to be quite reasonable. Basic necessities such as food, transportation, and housing are generally affordable, and the cost of entertainment and leisure activities is also quite reasonable. Furthermore, the cost of healthcare is much lower in Oman than in the United States, making it a more affordable option for those seeking medical care," explained one expat living in Oman.

What is the average cost of housing in Oman?

If you are thinking about moving to Oman, cost of living in probably a key consideration. Expats commented about the cost of housing:

"The cost of housing in Oman varies depending on the location and type of accommodation. Generally, the cost of renting an apartment or villa in Oman is relatively high compared to other countries in the region. However, there are some more affordable options available, such as studio apartments and shared accommodation," explained one expat.

"Lower - Cost of housing in our home city, Edinburgh, is incredibly high. We would never be able to afford to live in a house this size at home," said one person in Muscat.

"The rental price for a nice 1 bedroom apartment in Oman can range from around $500 to $1,000 per month, while a nice 2 bedroom apartment can range from around $800 to $1,500 per month," commented one expat living in Oman.

What appliances are typically included in a rental?

We asked foreigners in Oman what appliances are typically included in a rental, and, if there is anything else included or not included that a newcomer would not expect. Replies included:

"Rental properties in Oman typically include a refrigerator, stove, oven, washing machine, and air conditioning unit. Some properties may also include a dishwasher, microwave, and other small appliances. Furniture may also be included in some rental properties," wrote an expat living in Oman.
