We asked people how much they someone comfortably live on in Senegal, they wrote:

"The cost of living in Senegal is generally considered to be quite affordable. Basic necessities such as food, transportation, and housing are relatively inexpensive compared to other countries in the region. Prices for consumer goods and services are also quite reasonable, making it a great place to live for those on a budget," explained one expat living in Senegal.

Will I save money living in Senegal?

"Living in Senegal can be significantly cheaper than living in the United States. The cost of living in Senegal is much lower than in the United States, with basic necessities such as food, transportation, and housing costing significantly less. Additionally, the cost of entertainment and leisure activities is also much lower in Senegal than in the United States. As a result, living in Senegal can be a great way to save money compared to living in the United States," said one expat in Senegal.

What is the average cost of housing in Senegal?

"The cost of housing in Senegal varies depending on the location and type of accommodation. Generally, renting an apartment in a city center can cost anywhere from $200 to $500 per month, while renting a house in a rural area can cost around $100 to $200 per month. Prices for buying property in Senegal can range from $50,000 to $500,000 depending on the size and location," said one expat in Senegal.

We asked foreigners in Senegal what appliances are typically included in a rental, and, if there is anything else included or not included that a newcomer would not expect. Replies included:

"In Senegal, rental properties typically include a refrigerator, stove, and washing machine. Other common appliances may include a microwave, air conditioner, and water heater. Depending on the property, some landlords may also provide additional appliances such as a dishwasher, clothes dryer, or television," wrote one expat.
