Cost of Living in Georgia

"The cost of living in Georgia is slightly lower than the national average. Georgia offers affordable housing, particularly in suburban areas and in small towns. Other costs of living in Georgia, such as food, transportation, health care and entertainment, are also generally lower than in most other states in the country. Georgia is known for its comparatively low tax rates, and its average utility bills tend to be lower than many of its neighboring states," said one expat in Georgia Rep.

"In general, living expenses in Georgia are lower than those of the United States as a whole. The cost of living in Georgia is lower for housing, healthcare, utilities, and transportation. Food expenses are slightly more expensive than the national average. Tax rates are also lower than the average in the United States. Depending on the city, living in Georgia can provide significant savings when compared to living in other parts of the country," said one expat in Georgia Rep.

"The average cost of housing in Georgia is relatively high, with prices varying greatly from city to city. Renting an apartment in the state is generally more expensive than other parts of the United States, with an average middle range price of around $1,000-$1,500 a month. Buying a home can also be expensive, with median list prices of over $200,000. Generally, the more urban and rural areas of the state tend to have higher housing costs than suburban areas," explained one expat.

"The rental price for a nice 1 bedroom apartment in Georgia typically ranges from $895 to $1,300 per month. A nice 2 bedroom apartment in Georgia typically ranges from $1,350 to $1,800 per month," commented one expat who moved to Georgia Rep.

"When renting a home in Georgia, most rental properties come equipped with a stove/oven, refrigerator, microwaves and air conditioning. Other commonly included appliances may include a dishwasher, garbage disposal, washing machine and dryer. Depending on the specific property, additional features such as a built-in vacuum system, water softening system and security system may be offered as well," remarked one expat living in Georgia Rep.
