The cost of living in Guatemala is much lower than in the United States, with basic necessities such as food, transportation, and housing costing significantly less. Additionally, the cost of entertainment and leisure activities is also much lower in Guatemala than in the United States. As a result, living in Guatemala can be a great way to save money compared to living in the United States," remarked one in Guatemala.
What is the average cost of housing in Guatemala?

Outside of the capital, the cost of renting an apartment is usually much lower, with prices ranging from around $50 to $500 per month. The cost of buying a house in Guatemala is also quite varied, with prices ranging from around $50,000 to $500,000," remarked one in Guatemala.
"Lower. It only cost US $13,000 to build a nice house. Electricity is about $40 a month and there is no running water," explained one expat.

"In Guatemala, rental properties typically include a refrigerator, stove, oven, and washing machine. Other common appliances may include a microwave, dishwasher, and air conditioning unit. Depending on the property, some landlords may also provide furniture and other amenities," remarked one expat in Guatemala.
