"Living in The Netherlands may be a less expensive option than typical living costs in the United States. Shopping and purchasing goods may cost less compared to the US, while taxes and utilities may be higher. Housing may be relatively more expensive, with rental prices slightly higher than in other European countries, but in many cases less than what would be found in the United States. Additionally, whilst health care may be more costly, the Netherlands provides universal health care for all citizens, making it a viable and less expensive option if health care is required," said one person in Netherlands.

The average monthly rent for a house in the Netherlands is usually between 800 and 1,600 Euros, depending on the area and size. In addition, it is usually necessary to make a deposit of at least 1-2 months rent and pay 3 to 4 months’ rent in advance," explained one expat.

"Housing is cheaper than in large cities in the US, but is not cheap. In my experience, however, I am happy with what I pay. In NY, I had to share an apartment with someone I'd just met," said one person in Rotterdam.
