Will I save money living in Peru?
"Exceeded them by a mile! Like most of Latin America when the Financial crisis started in the USA and Europe, prices of land tripled. Inflation has been low and and prices of most things are about a third of NYC. Lunch for 2 in a nice Cafe was $12 eight years ago and now is about $20.00 Our currency has appreciated from 3.6-1 to 2.7-1 over the same time frame," remarked one in Lima.
"Living in Peru can be significantly cheaper than living in the United States. The cost of living in Peru is generally lower than in the United States, with rent, groceries, and other everyday expenses costing much less. Additionally, Peru has a much lower tax rate than the United States, which can help to further reduce the cost of living," explained one expat.
What is the average cost of housing in Peru?

"The cost of housing in Peru varies depending on the location and type of accommodation. Generally, renting an apartment in a city center can cost between $200 and $500 per month, while renting a house in a rural area can cost between $100 and $200 per month," wrote a person living in Peru.
What are typical rental prices for expats in Peru?
"The rental price for a nice 1 bedroom apartment in Peru can vary depending on the location, but generally ranges from around $400 to $800 per month. For a nice 2 bedroom apartment, the rental price can range from around $600 to $1,200 per month," said one expat.
"It depends on where you reside in Peru. The costs are much lower in Los Olivos and the Pro district of Lima. Also, parts of Surco and Mira Flores are a little more expensive but are affordable if you look around. for the right prices. Also, the San Martin District is also very cost effective and very near to Los Olivos," remarked one expat in Peru.

"Rental properties in Peru typically include a refrigerator, stove, oven, and washing machine. Other common appliances may include a microwave, dishwasher, and air conditioning unit. Depending on the property, some landlords may also provide additional appliances such as a clothes dryer, water heater, and/or water purification system," commented one expat who moved to Peru.
