"The cost of living in Romania is generally considered to be quite affordable. Groceries, transportation, and utilities are all relatively inexpensive compared to other European countries. Eating out can also be quite affordable, with a meal at a mid-range restaurant costing around 10-15 euros. Rent prices vary depending on the city and the size of the apartment, but generally range from 200-400 euros per month," remarked one in Romania.

The cost of living in Romania is generally lower than in the United States, with rent, groceries, and other everyday expenses costing much less. Additionally, Romania has a lower tax rate than the United States, which can help to reduce the overall cost of living," remarked one in Romania.
What is the average cost of housing in Romania?
If you are thinking about moving to Romania, cost of living in probably a key consideration. Expats commented about the cost of housing:
"The average cost of housing in Romania is generally considered to be quite affordable compared to other European countries. Prices vary depending on the location and size of the property, but generally, a one-bedroom apartment in a city centre can cost around €200-300 per month, while a three-bedroom apartment in a suburban area can cost around €400-500 per month," explained one expat.
"The housing costs are a little higher than in Latvia. The cost for a studio is the same. But a multiple room apartment outside the city center in Riga should be a bit cheeper. Even if there isn't a big difference in the price, the salary rates vary a bit more for the disadvantage of Bucharest... We pay a monthly fee of 2100 lei - 470 Euro for rent+utilities for a simple 3 room apartment between the downtown and outskirts. Simple studios are around around 250 - 350 Euro," said one person in Bucharest.

"The rental price for a nice 1 bedroom apartment in Romania can vary depending on the location, but generally ranges from around $400 to $800 per month. For a nice 2 bedroom apartment, the rental price can range from around $600 to $1,200 per month," said one expat living in Romania.
What appliances are typically included in a rental?
We asked foreigners in Romania what appliances are typically included in a rental, and, if there is anything else included or not included that a newcomer would not expect. Replies included:
"In Romania, rental properties typically include a refrigerator, stove, oven, washing machine, and dishwasher. Other common appliances may include a microwave, toaster, and coffee maker. Depending on the property, some landlords may also provide air conditioning, heating, and other amenities," said one expat living in Romania.
