Eating out can also be quite affordable, with a meal at a mid-range restaurant costing around 10-15 euros. The cost of living in Romania is generally lower than in the United States, with rent, groceries, and other everyday expenses costing much less. Additionally, Romania has a lower tax rate than the United States, which can help to reduce the overall cost of living," said one person in Romania.
What is the average cost of housing in Romania?
If you are thinking about moving to Romania, cost of living in probably a key consideration. Expats commented about the cost of housing:
"The housing costs are a little higher than in Latvia. The cost for a studio is the same. But a multiple room apartment outside the city center in Riga should be a bit cheeper. Even if there isn't a big difference in the price, the salary rates vary a bit more for the disadvantage of Bucharest... We pay a monthly fee of 2100 lei - 470 Euro for rent+utilities for a simple 3 room apartment between the downtown and outskirts. Simple studios are around around 250 - 350 Euro," remarked one expat in Bucharest.

"In Romania, rental properties typically include a refrigerator, stove, oven, washing machine, and dishwasher. Other common appliances may include a microwave, toaster, and coffee maker. Depending on the property, some landlords may also provide air conditioning, heating, and other amenities," wrote one expat.
