Summary: A newcomer to Florida should begin their search by researching the different areas of the state and deciding which area best suits their needs. They should also consider their budget and the type of home they are looking for. Once they have narrowed down their search, they should contact a real estate agent who can help them find the perfect home. Homes in Florida typically include amenities such as swimming pools, outdoor living spaces, and access to beaches and other recreational activities. Many homes also feature modern kitchens, spacious bedrooms, and updated bathrooms. Depending on the area, some homes may also include access to golf courses, tennis courts, and other luxury amenities.

What do I need to know when buying property in Florida?

When we asked expats what advice they would give a foreigner before buying a property in Florida, they said:

"1. Before buying property in Florida, it is important to not only be aware of the local laws and regulations, but also be aware of the state taxes that may apply when buying and selling real estate. 2. It is important to know the current market value of the property you are looking to purchase, as well as any associated fees when purchasing the property. 3. If the property is encumbered be sure to research the documents related to the encumbrance and the applicable laws that may affect it. 4. Being familiar with potential lenders and the range of loan options available is also important when purchasing a property. 5. It is also a good idea to look into any potential insurance coverage that may be required when purchasing property in Florida. 6. Lastly, be sure to do an inspection of the property prior to closing on the purchase in order to make sure it meets your expectations," explained one person living in Florida.
