"When buying property in North Dakota, it is important to research the local market and understand the local laws and regulations. It is also important to understand the tax implications of owning property in the state, as well as any zoning restrictions that may apply. It is also important to understand the process of obtaining a mortgage in North Dakota, as well as any other financing options that may be available. Additionally, it is important to understand the process of transferring title to the property, as well as any other closing costs that may be associated with the purchase. Finally, it is important to understand the process of obtaining insurance for the property, as well as any other maintenance or repair costs that may be associated with the purchase," explained one foreigner living in North Dakota.

Are foreigners allowed to own property in North Dakota?

When we asked expats what advice they would give a foreigner before buying a property in North Dakota, they said...

"Yes, foreigners are allowed to own property in North Dakota. Non-U.S. citizens are able to purchase real estate in the state, however, they must obtain a valid visa in order to do so. Additionally, they must also comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws. Furthermore, they must also be able to provide proof of financial stability and have a valid Social Security number," explained one foreigner living in North Dakota.

What appliances are typically included in a rental?

We asked foreigners in North Dakota what appliances are typically included in a rental, and, if there is anything else included or not included that a newcomer would not expect. Replies included:

"Rental properties in North Dakota typically include a refrigerator, stove, oven, dishwasher, and washer and dryer. Some properties may also include a microwave, garbage disposal, and air conditioning," remarked one foreigner who made the move to North Dakota.

Additionally, newcomers can look for homes by driving around the area and looking for "For Sale" signs," explained one person living in North Dakota.
