Ultimately, the decision to buy or rent a home in Botswana should be based on your individual needs and preferences," said one person in Botswana.

It is also important to ensure that you have the necessary funds to purchase the property, as well as any additional costs associated with the purchase. 3. You should also consider the potential for capital gains when buying property in Botswana, as the country has seen strong economic growth in recent years. 4. It is also important to ensure that you have the necessary documents and paperwork in order before making a purchase, such as a title deed and a valid deed of sale. 5. You should also be aware of any taxes or fees that may be applicable to the purchase of property in Botswana, such as transfer taxes and stamp duty. 6. Finally, it is important to ensure that you have the necessary legal advice and representation when making a purchase, as this can help to ensure that the transaction is completed smoothly and without any issues," said one expat in Botswana.

Are foreigners allowed to own property in Botswana?

When we asked expats what advice they would give a foreigner before buying a property in Botswana, they said...

"Yes, foreigners are allowed to own property in Botswana. However, they must obtain permission from the Ministry of Lands and Housing before they can purchase land or property. Foreigners are also required to have a valid work permit or residence permit in order to purchase property in Botswana. Additionally, they must have a local partner who is a citizen of Botswana in order to purchase property," wrote one expat who made the move to Botswana.

What appliances are typically included in a rental?

We asked foreigners in Botswana what appliances are typically included in a rental, and, if there is anything else included or not included that a newcomer would not expect. Replies included:

"In Botswana, rental properties typically include a refrigerator, stove, oven, and washing machine. Other common appliances may include a microwave, dishwasher, and air conditioning unit. Depending on the property, additional amenities such as a clothes dryer, water heater, and security system may also be included," explained one person living in Botswana.
