When we asked people what advice they would give someone preparing to move to Los Alcazares, they said:

"It is important to research the cost of living and housing in Los Alcazares before moving. It is also important to know the language of the area, as Spanish is predominantly spoken in Los Alcazares. As Los Alcazares is close to the coast, it is important to try to organise health insurance that includes emergency medical care while at the beach or engaging in water sports. It is also important to familiarise yourself with the regulations and laws in Spain, as these may differ to other countries. The best way to integrate into the community is to get to know your neighbours and join local community activities. Public transport in the area can also be helpful to get around," explained one expat living in Los Alcazares, Spain.

"Decide what you want from the area first,do not buy the house then see if it offers what you want, location location. I choose the area because of sailing, and then formed the S.A.M.M sailing assoiciation.Which is based in Los Alcazares and has now over 150 family members. We now have a number of groups with 8 share owned boats,and members with privately owned boats," said one expat in Los Alcazares.

How do I find a place to live in Los Alcazares?

We asked expats how they chose their neighborhood and found a place to live. They answered:

"When looking for a place to live in Los Alcazares, there are several options available. You can look for rental or purchase options, or explore real estate agents in the area. Property websites such as Rightmove and Kyero can also be useful to search for properties in the area. Additionally, it can be beneficial to network with local contacts in Los Alcazares to see if they know of any properties available to rent or buy. You can also take a look at the local town hall website or local newspapers for any property listings," said one expat who made the move to Los Alcazares.

"I found an excellent mooring for my boat on the Mar Menor free of charge, then looked for a house with in 4-5 mins walk, heaven," explained one expat living in Los Alcazares, Spain.

"Two bed terrace house with double garage 300m from the sea. Most expats look for 2-3 bed apartments or detached/semi-detached houses. I advise when doing business go to Spanish companies and keep away from British companies in Spain whatever you are buying," remarked one expat in Los Alcazares, Spain.

"A typical expat home or apartment in Los Alcazares is typically a modern furnished apartment or home with a pool and/or garden, located within a resort-style, gated community. Generally, they have 2-3 bedrooms, one or two bathrooms, a large living area, an equipped kitchen, and a private outdoor area that overlooks the golf course or pool area. Many apartments come with balconies offering stunning views of the Mar Menor or the Mediterranean Sea. Air conditioning is usually provided as standard, as well as access to concierge services and a gym," said one expat in Los Alcazares.

What is the average cost of housing in Los Alcazares?

If you are thinking about moving to Los Alcazares, cost of living in probably a key consideration. Expats commented about the cost of housing:

"The average cost of housing in Los Alcazares varies depending on location, size and condition of the property. Generally, prices start at around €500 per month for a one-bedroom apartment, with larger properties and villas costing significantly more," explained one expat living in Los Alcazares, Spain.

"Lower, though prices have risen they are not as high as the U.K. around 150- 300,000€," said one expat in Los Alcazares.

Should I buy or rent a home in Los Alcazares?

If you have not spent a lot of time in Los Alcazares, you should rent before even thinking about buying. We asked expats there about the buy vs. rent decision:

"It ultimately depends on your long term plans. Buying a home is the more expensive option, but it allows you more stability in the long run. Renting can be less expensive and it allows more freedom if you need to relocate. Consider things like total costs, availability, location and your long term intentions before making a decision," said one expat who made the move to Los Alcazares.

What should I pack when moving to Los Alcazares?

We asked people living in Los Alcazares to list three things they wish they had brought and three they wish they had left behind. They responded:

"Clothing and shoes, toiletries, bedding, kitchenware, small furniture such as desks and chairs, cleanup supplies, electronics and chargers, towels, books and magazines, sports and beach gear, car essentials, and any medication needed," said one expat in Los Alcazares.

What cultural faux pas should I try to avoid making in Los Alcazares?

"In Spain, it is important to follow the same customs that are observed in other countries. For example, cultural faux pas to avoid in Los Alcazares include: - Refraining from discussing anything too personal in public. This includes politics and religion, as it is seen as rude to openly discuss these topics in a public setting. - Refraining from wearing clothing that is deemed too provocative. This includes clothing that is overly revealing, such as skimpy tank tops or shorts that are too short. - Refraining from using overly aggressive body language and shouting or raising your voice when interacting with others. - Refraining from tipping in bars and restaurants, as a tip is not expected or required. - Refraining from bringing up any inappropriate topics of conversation, such as sexual content. - Refraining from taking pictures or videos of others without their permission. - Refraining from being disrespectful in any way, such as greeting with a kiss on the cheek instead of a handshake. By adhering to these cultural norms, you can ensure that your visit to Los Alcazares will be enjoyable and respectful," commented one expat who made the move to Los Alcazares.
