What do I need to know before moving to Maracaibo?

When we asked people what advice they would give someone preparing to move to Maracaibo, they said:

"Always prefer your common sense over the realtors opinion. Try to look at houses with a local to get their opinion. ALWAYS choose houses with Air Conditioning, it tends to get very hot. (115 F)," commented one expat who made the move to Maracaibo.
