Public hospitals provide basic healthcare services, but they may be overcrowded and face shortages of medical supplies and equipment. Private hospitals and clinics generally offer higher quality care, with more specialized services and better facilities. However, these private facilities can be expensive, and many locals and visitors opt for medical insurance to cover the costs. Despite the availability of medical services in Windhoek, more complex medical procedures or treatments may require patients to travel to South Africa or other countries with more advanced healthcare systems," commented one expat who moved to Windhoek.
